Permanent Mission of Portugal to the United Nations

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Vice-Chairmanship 69th UNGA 2014-2015

Portugal was elected, in June 11, 2014, to one of the vice-chairmanships of the 69th United Nations General Assembly. This session, which began in September 2014 and will last for one year, will be particularly important as it will evaluate the Millenium Development Goals adopted in 2000 and will set the new Development Agenda, to be adopted in a World Summit of Heads of State and Government to be held in September 2015.

This election builds on the work that Portugal has consistently been developing within the United Nations system aimed at achieving international peace and security, sustainable development and universal human rights.
